Creating Captivating Cat Eyes

Few eye looks are as seductive as the sultry cat eye. In addition to the requisite tools—gel eyeliner (black), a flat eyeliner brush and mascara—you’ll need a healthy dose of confidence to own this classic runway look.

Step One: Line Your Lashes
Using your eyeliner and eyeliner brush, trace your lash line from the inner corner of your eye to the outer corner, flicking the line up at the end. We recommend new Pür Intensity for the precision of a liquid liner in the ease of a gel formulation. Make sure you follow the lash line as closely as possible to create the proper effect. (You can also create a “path” to follow using your eye pencil. Just be sure to cover your guide line completely with your eyeliner gel.) “Tuxedo” Chocolate Strawberries
Sick of store-bought candies but got a sweet tooth to satisfy? Wow him or her with this dashing, delicious treat. All you need are two bags of chocolate and white chocolate chips, two quarts of washed, ripe strawberries, a baking sheet lined with wax paper and a toothpick. First, melt the white chocolate (either in a double boiler over a low flame or in a microwaveable bowl at 60% power for 4-5 minutes). Holding the strawberries by the stem, submerge each berry in the bowl, coating completely, and set on the baking sheet to cool. Next, melt the chocolate. Dip each cooled berry in the chocolate lengthwise and rotate 270 degrees, leaving a white “V” on the front. Use the toothpick to “paint” on a bowtie and buttons and cool in the fridge.

Homemade Soy Candles
Sure, anyone can pick up a scented candle from the store, but a handmade votive says a lot. Not only can you tailor the color and scent to the recipient’s tastes, but you’ll get extra points for making the effort. All you need is a pound of soy wax, a few candle wicks, a glass container (mason jars work great), the liquid scent of your choice and liquid or powder wax coloring (available at most craft stores). Simply melt the wax over low heat (use a thermometer, and make sure you don’t exceed 300 degrees), stir in your selected color and fragrance (use no more than an ounce), pour slowly into your container and place your wick in the center. Lay a pencil across the rim of the container and fasten the wick to hold it in place. Dry overnight and trim the wick in the morning.
