Behold the Magic of the Split Pan!

It’s an odd time of year to get dressed. “Is it too early/late to wear this?” is a typical question in mid-spring because it’s a transition period. The weather is getting warmer, but it’s not quite time to bust out the spaghetti straps and shorts yet. Or is it? This awkwardness is not just a fashion flux. Makeup can be a challenge between seasons, too.

Let’s face it—even when using an SPF regularly, our skin changes color. We get darker in the summer and fairer in the winter. How frustrating! I don’t want to wear a foundation that’s too dark or light while the seasons are being fickle. I also don’t plan to clutter my vanity and empty my wallet to keep multiple shades of foundation in stock.

Mineral-splitMED If you feel the same way as I do, behold the practical power of the split pan! If you are in between your summer and winter colors, this is a lifesaver. Why settle for looking fake when you can mix and match your two favorite shades to create your own look?

The 4-in-1 blends well in the pan and on your skin. Just swivel your chisel brush in the two foundations until you get your desired shade, and then apply the powder like you normally would. Tada! You’re ready for spring, summer, winter, fall and everything between!

Wedding Cake? How About Royal Pizza Pie?

It seems as the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton draws near, enthusiasts are getting crazier and more creative. Papa John’s jumped on the royal wedding bandwagon last week, having a food artist in the UK create a portrait of the lovebirds out of pizza! "Royal Wedding fever is sweeping the world so we couldn't resist having some fun and creating our very own pizza portrait of Kate and William to celebrate their forthcoming marriage," said Andrew Varga, Papa John's chief marketing officer.

At least we know Kate’s dress designer in this case! Her pizza gown is made of delicious cheese, and her veil is a cascading blanket of mushrooms. William's suit is made out of salami and peppers. I must say, this is fashion at its yummiest, fanaticism at its finest and nothing short of delectable artistry! Don’t they just look good enough to eat?

GET OLIVIA'S LOOK
Recreated with the following Pür Minerals products:

•    Correcting Primer in Neutral
•    4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup in Golden Medium
•    Nature's Paradise Palette
•    Pür Intensity Gel Eyeliner in Carbon
•    Mineral Shea Butter Lipstick in Pink Diamond

MAKEUP LESSON
I love spring looks because they are made for an easy transition from editorial to reality, and the makeup I use on set is perfect for every skin tone.

1.    To get Olivia's radiant skin, first prep with Pür Minerals Correcting Primer in Neutral. The advanced formula in this foundation primer provides you with a flawless airbrushed look.

2.    Next, apply the 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Foundation with SPF 15 to cover imperfections and obtain smooth coverage in 60 seconds or less.

3.    To define cheekbones, apply the blush from Nature's Paradise Palette for a healthy-looking glow.

4.    From the six island-inspired eye shadows in the Nature's Paradise Palette, use the dark brown eye shadow to bring out the color in your eyes and the light gold shadow for a natural, yet dazzling, look.

(Another great benefit of using the above palette is that it has the Tropic Bronze sun-soaked powder in the palette as well, which can be brushed over your face, neck and body.)

5.    I chose a luscious Mineral Shea Butter Lipstick that hydrates lips, as the sparkling pale pink (Pink Diamond) suited Olivia's coloring.

Try these easy steps for an effortless spring look and enjoy the great season ahead of us.

Royal Retail Therapy Makes Me Wanna Shop

Shutterstock_24395872 Though nobody knows who is designing Kate Middleton’s wedding gown or where she and Prince William will be going for their honeymoon, reporters and royal wedding fanatics can speculate on Middleton’s shopping trip at King’s Road this week. While shopping at the mid-market chain store, Warehouse, the bride-to-be purchased a feather print one- shoulder dress, a tropical print sundress, a lace-trimmed blouse and a poppy bandeau dress. This leads nosey Nellies to believe the newlyweds will be heading someplace tropical for their honeymoon, and that makes me want to go shopping for summer!

Middleton is quickly becoming a fashion icon, and her summer tastes are right on point. Summer is a season where fashion can be playful, with wild prints, lots of color, fun accessories and flowing pieces to optimize enjoyment of sunshine and summer breezes.  One-shoulder sundresses and gowns are all the rage, and you can never go wrong with a bandeau-style dress in the heat of the season.  Linen blouses look and feel fabulous with a skirt or some lightweight slacks, and don’t forget to finish off any summer look with scandalous sandals and a big, beautiful bag!

Well, I have to agree that it looks like Kate and William will be heading someplace sunny for their honeymoon. For Middleton’s sake, I sure hope so, since those lovely summer threads would not be nearly as cute and comfy at a snowy destination!

Sheer, Natural Lips with Lipstick Stains and Glosses

IStock_000000252804Large A natural look doesn’t necessarily mean disavowing makeup altogether; rather you should strive to choose cosmetics that will enhance your natural features, making it look as though you aren’t wearing them when you really are. When it comes to lip treatments, this involves choosing colors which are very light and close in shade to your own natural hues.

The first step to achieving a healthy, natural lip color look is to prepare the skin. After washing thoroughly, apply a lip moisturizer, like Mineral Lip Revival, to help to remove excess skin flakes and volumize the mouth, giving it a full and plump look.

Lip stain, also known as lipstick stain, is different from traditional lipstick in that it doesn’t contain wax. Rather, it semi-permanently stains the lips, giving them a deep color which can last for as long as twelve hours.

The advantage of lip stain for achieving a sheer, natural look is that the coloring agent soaks into the lips making it look like a natural part of the skin’s coloration. However, the problem with lip stain is that it alters the look of your skin, adding color which is not natural to a person’s complexion.

Gloss_sticks A more natural-looking alternative to lip stains are gloss sticks, like Pür Minerals Petal Pout Lip Gloss Sticks. Long-lasting and easy to apply, gloss sticks give you greater tinting control, allowing you to add a sheer shine to your mouth or just a hint with a dab of color. This gives you the look of having full, pampered lips, without having to coat them in thick, caked-on lipstick or semi-permanent dye stain solutions.

What’s Your Favorite Summer Fashion Essential?

Shutterstock_2723198 It’s hard to believe that May 1st is less than two weeks away. Just as I was getting into the swing of spring’s smart, chic style, it’s time to start thinking summer. Typical. I guess I’ve always been a bit of a latecomer when it comes to the fashion game. But not anymore. This summer, I’m canvassing the web for the hottest fashion trends BEFORE they simmer down, and asking you what item you can’t wait to wear this season.

Maxis
Fun, fresh and flowy, the maxi dress is as much a part of summer as baseball and lemonade. And this season, sheer is the name of the game. Inspired by spring’s comfy-meets-sexy “loungerie” trend, the 2011 maxi is frillier, lacier and racier than summer dresses of yore.

Capris
A perennial warm weather favorite, the cropped capri is back in a big (and baggier) way. If the view from Fashion Week is any indication, this summer’s skinny jean alternative is easy, breezy and more relaxed than we’ve seen—just what you need to get into the summer state of mind.

Cover-ups
Coral, floral, patterned or printed, the summer cover-up is a poolside/beach-bound must-have, and this season is no exception. While the basic concept hasn’t changed (how much more basic could it get?), the look has gotten a little wilder, with eclectic patterns and bolder, brighter prints than ever before.

Sandals
What would summer be without the perfect sandal (or twelve)? While you can’t go wrong with the classic wedge or platform, fashion experts say if you haven’t joined the gladiator bandwagon yet, there’s no time like the present—and I’m inclined to believe them.

What are you looking forward to wearing most this summer? Share your faves with us.

How to Apply Mascara Clump Free

Shutterstock_3235448 Mascara can give you long, luxurious lashes that stretch out languidly across your eyes, making them look larger and brighter by contrast. However, sometimes your wand leaves behind frustrating little cosmetic clumps, which bind the lashes in unsightly ways. Luckily, there are a variety of tricks you can use to easily apply mascara completely clump free.

First, start by choosing a high quality brand of mascara. Some formulas lengthen the lash, while others offer waterproof color or curling effects. Pür Minerals Triple Impact Mascara is a formula that accomplishes all of these tasks—lengthening, thickening and curling all at once, while also providing all-day water resistant application.

Triple Impact Mascara Vertical When you dip your wand in the mascara, make sure that you wipe any excess off on a spare tissue. Then, as you apply it, start at the base and wiggle the wand so that you apply more of the cosmetic near the lid, making clumping at the ends less likely.

As you slide the mascara wand through the lash, continue wiggling the wand slightly until you reach the end. This serves to keep the lashes separate from one another.

If you find that some minor clumping has occurred, you can use a tiny lash brush to smooth out the fine hairs, separating them and unclogging the blockage. You can also use a thoroughly cleansed mascara brush as a substitute for smoothing out tiny clumps left behind.

Pür-ly Bizarre: Kate Middleton’s Face on a Jellybean

It’s official. Royal wedding mania has reached a fever pitch. And it’s all thanks to a jellybean. (Yes, you read that correctly.)

Kate-middleton-jellybean Wesley Hosie, a 25-year-old accountant from Somerset, England claims to have found royal bride-to-be Kate Middleton’s likeness on a jellybean. Hosie and girlfriend Jessica White found the delicious doppelganger hidden inside a 1.5-pound jar from the Jelly Bean Factory.

"As Jessica opened the jar, I saw her immediately,” Hosie told news sources. “She was literally lying there staring back at me.”

Thanks to a spark in online interest, Candy Kate can expect to join an exclusive club of edible apparitions once reserved for religious icons. Concerning the curious confection’s fate, Hosie had this to say:

"Given that the royal wedding is only a few weeks away, we hope to make a few pounds out of it by selling it on the internet to a collector."

According to various news sources, the couple has put the mango-flavored Middleton lookalike on eBay, with bids starting between $800 and $1,000. And with royal hysteria growing more each day, the pair could expect a pretty sweet payoff.

Do you see a resemblance? Tell us what you think.
