Covered in Mud at Beauty Info Zone

Most people don’t think of mudslinging in positive terms—unless you’re a Mineral Mudd fan, of course. This month, makeup artist and Beauty Info Zone blogger Lisa gets her hands dirty putting our rave-reviewed facial mask to test. Here’s her verdict:

“I have a love-hate relationship with mud masks.

On one hand, a mud mask makes me really feel like I am pampering myself. I can walk around with quite obvious proof that I am taking time out for myself.

The hate part is that mud masks can be very drying and irritating. It’s definitely trial and error to find one that truly works, that unclogs blocked pores, exfoliates dull skin, and leaves one looking refreshed and glowy.

MineralMud_New_CAP_2 A mask that I absolutely adore is the Mineral Mudd Masque ($26) by Pür Minerals.

I have used this regularly for several months now and it’s terrific. It’s a very thick, cream brown mask that spreads easily without much mess and dries quickly. Love the hygienic packaging, it’s a squeeze tube so the product stays fresh for a long time. I use this once a week, and it keeps my skin looking bright. What I love about it is that it doesn’t dry my face out, no matter how long I leave it on.

If you have very oily, blackhead prone skin you can use this as a spot mask, and it’s gentle enough to use more often than once a week. It does a great job of regulating the skin. I actually put this on newly erupting blemishes and then sleep with it on, and the next morning the problem is gone with no ill effects.

Does it work?  I certainly find it does, I love it.  I think this is one of the best mud masks on the market.”

Antioxidant Rich Plants In Skincare Products

Aloe When selecting skin care products, it’s important to be aware of the ingredients used to make them. Cosmetics and treatments containing extracts from antioxidant-rich plants can actually help to nourish and protect your skin. These products can not only cover up blemishes and irritation, but also help soothe the skin below.

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant used in products such as Pür Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Foundation. With SPF 15 protection, this multipurpose foundation, concealer and finishing powder helps protect your skin from the sun, while its antioxidant ingredients help to moisturize and nourish your face.

Many moisturizers also contain ingredients taken from antioxidant rich plants. Products such as Pür Minerals Mineral Moisture Complex are rich in Vitamin C, a powerful age-defying element shown to help reduce the appearance of lines, wrinkles and even breakouts.

Even cleansers, such as the Pür Minerals Mineral Wash, can be rich in antioxidants, allowing you to nourish your face even as you remove dirt and cosmetics at the end of the day. That’s why it’s so important to look at ingredients. Knowing which products have antioxidants in them allows you to choose treatments which will have the most benefit for your skin.

Cruelty-Free Beauty

Shutterstock_7939786[1] It’s time to go orange! April is the ASPCA’s Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month, and orange is the  American Society for the Prevention of Animal Cruelty’s signature color for the month-long affair. We all love out pets, and it’s unthinkable to imagine anybody hurting a furry friend. Unfortunately, millions upon millions of animals are mistreated and abused each year, and we must do what we can to aide our barking buddies, purring pals and all other creatures, great and small.

While browsing PürMinerals.com for your shopping and blogging needs, have you ever noticed the heart-shaped bunny at the bottom of the site?  If not, scroll down and take a look. That adorable logo is PETA’s cruelty-free stamp of approval, meaning Pür Minerals does not test its products on animals.

Shutterstock_10210336 Did you know that animal testing is not required for cosmetics, but over one million animals are still subjected to experimentation every year? The FDA urges manufacturers to conduct all necessary tests to prove a product is safe, but using animals is not mandatory. The ASPCA encourages scientists to adopt the three R’s when planning research:

Reduce the number of animals used in an experiment. Pür uses no animals to test its products.

Refine the quality of life for animals that must be tested on, making sure they have comfortable, safe and pleasant living accommodations.

Replace using our furry friends with computer models, in-vitro cell cultures, synthetic membranes and human studies when possible. In Pür’s case, we’ve eliminated any need to use animals to test our skincare and cosmetics.

Over 700 companies have committed to Caring Consumer’s humane testing policies. Not all skincare companies offer cruelty-free products, but you can be assured that when using any of our makeup, moisturizers, washes and treatments, no animals were used for experiments.

What else can you do to help animals in need during Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month? Go to the ASPCA’s website for more info on donations, adopting/rescuing a pet and other ways to go orange! You can also contact your local Humane Society location. For more information about companies that do not test on animals, tips on cruelty-free living, and animal testing in general, click the little PETA bunny and visit CaringConsumer.com.

Pür Xtra: How to Wear Yellow Eye Shadow

The Im-Pore-Tance of Exfoliation

Tw7Pfabp6rxlCY5zvcrZLAR76KOgVdwml9fWpxzk I’m a pretty busy gal, and a few weeks ago I had a skin moment. Have you ever looked in the mirror and realized you haven’t thoroughly inspected your face in a while? All of a sudden, you notice your skin is desperately crying out to you for help. Well, that happened to me. My skin looked slightly ashen and a few pores were inflamed. That’s when I had a personal exfoliation intervention. I dropped everything and had a spa night. It was marvelous.

Exfoliation is an important part of skin care that we often neglect. Our bodies naturally shed dead skin cells and bring new ones to the surface, but that process is not as thorough and fast as using a treatment. If your skin is dull and rough and you have enlarged pores, it’s past time for you to exfoliate. What’s funny is it is so easy to work exfoliation into your beauty routine nowadays that there’s really no excuse for making your poor face suffer.Revwash2

An easy way to incorporate exfoliation into your day is using Revitalizing Facial Wash. It gently removes  makeup, cleanses pores and banishes yucky, dead skin cells. This wash uses mandarin peel, lemon peel, lavender and aloe to soothe and make you smooth.

If you want a quick treatment to deep cleanse pores and nip nasty skin in the you-know-what, try the Mineral Mudd Masque. This masque is extreme detox for your face. Pascalite and calcium bentonite clay pull impurities directly out of your pores and subsequently remove dead skin cells.

For all my fellow multi-taskers, you can’t go wrong using Work It Off. This serum goes beneath your daily moisturizer and uses licorice root extract and vitamins A and C to exfoliate, revitalize and nourish the skin.

Proper exfoliation will unclog your pores, keep your skin clean, reduce breakouts and make you glow. It also increases blood circulation, giving your skin a healthy color. For dudes, it can expose hair follicles for a cleaner, less irritating shave. Just don’t overdo it. There is such a thing as too much scrubbing!

Prom Makeup Styles

Shutterstock_6981328 Prom season is almost here. As thoughts turn to gowns, dances and who will be crowned king and queen, Pür Minerals brings you some quick and simple beauty tips for creating the perfect makeup look for the big night.

Let the color of your dress and the cut inspire the style of makeup you use in planning your prom look. Prom is all about being glamorous and gorgeous, so feel free to get your inspiration from celebrities. Flipping through the latest fashion magazines will give you an idea of what the more exciting trendsetters are doing this year.

Everybody loves a little black dress, and prom is no exception. An LBD gives you the freedom to choose either a bold, dramatic style of makeup, or a simple, subtle glow. But no matter what kind of dress you have your heart set on, Pür Minerals has the perfect selection of mineral makeup to match.

Start with a no-mess foundation like our 4 in 1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Foundation. Next, find the right Pressed Mineral Eye Shadow Color to suit your dress. Then top it off with a Pout Plumping Lip Gloss. You can also give your skin a warm, healthy glow by lightly brushing Pür Radiance Mineral Powder over your face, neck and décolletage.

It’s important to remember that your makeup will look different in your prom dress, than it will in regular everyday clothes. That’s why its important to have a “Dress Rehearsal” before the big day to ensure that your overall presentation turns out flawless. Give yourself time to experiment with different looks so that you aren’t left scrambling at the last minute for that matching lip gloss when you ought to be out showing off your smile.
