Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Airs Tonight

Shutterstock_2475266The Angels are back! The annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show airs tonight at 10 p.m. on CBS. Since its inception in 1995, the star-studded event has become a holiday tradition, as synonymous with the season as Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade or Black Friday, albeit, not without its share of controversy. Despite being criticized for commercialism and suggestive content, the program drew 9 million viewers last year alone and included performers Akon and Katy Perry, plus supermodel Adriana Lima in the $2 million Bombshell Fantasy Bra.

This year, the lingerie supershow ups the ante with the $2.5 million Fantasy Treasure Bra—an aqua push-up studded with over 3,000 precious stones, including white and yellow diamonds and pearls—as seen on Australian model Miranda Kerr. Guest performers will include Nicki Minaj, Maroon 5 and Kanye West, who will perform a song with Jay-Z off their “Watch the Throne” album.

Will you be watching the 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show? Let us know.

A Formal Invitation

Philosophy-di-alberta-ferretti-tuxedo-jacke.jpgYou don’t need a formal occasion to enjoy one of this season’s hottest looks. Taking a page from the handbook of classic men’s formal wear, tuxedo-inspired blazers are fall fashion tour de force. If you think he looks good in that dinner jacket, wait till you try it on for yourself.

Pairing a slim, elegant cut with alternating textures—like satin lapels and pockets—a well-fitting tuxedo jacket is an easy way to dress up your workday look or add a couture touch to a night out on the town.

We especially love Tory Burch’s Olivier Wool Gabardine Blazer ($495 at toryburch.com) and this ice white tuxedo jacket from Philosphy di Alberta Feretti ($895 at neiman marcus.com).

Now, that’s Some Serious Eye Candy

Eye_Candy
When it comes to makeup, the eyes truly have the most fun. (We have an  entire online app dedicated to the art of those soulful orbs.) With a dazzling kaleidoscope of shadows, liners and more to choose from, shopping for a new eye look is a lot like being a kid in a candy store. Now imagine if, instead of mineral color, you actually used real candy? That’s exactly what eye stylista Diana Mastova did in her latest culinary/cosmetic creation. Using confectionary toppings instead of makeup, Mastova whipped up this scrumptious, eye-stopping look, complete with rock candy blush and party sprinkle lipstick. Hey, we’ve always had a sweet spot for creative eye candy.

The One Palette You Need this Season

It’s time to get serious about beauty (but still remember to have a little fun); to take it up a notch, with a color palette of impeccable style. It’s time for Simply Chic.

Pür’s newest sensation features nine classic and contemporary hues fit for even the most distinguishing color connoisseur. Six ultrachic eye shadows mix and match for endless autumn looks, while two super-versatile blush powders add just the right amount of depth and dimension—creamy rose Pinktini for day and spiced mauve Cosmopolitan for night. For the hottest looks of the season, the choice is Simply Chic. Only $30 (a $74 value)

Fall Skincare Tips & Tricks

Shutterstock_879934With the sweltering dog days of summer finally behind us, the cool, crisp autumn months come as a welcomed relief. However, as the mercury drops, so does the humidity. As Mother Nature dials down the heat and dries out the air, the change in weather can be a roller coaster ride for your skin. Here are just a few things you can do to keep your skin hydrated and healthy in the months ahead:

Exfoliate Often
If you’re constantly reapplying moisturizer throughout the day, the problem may not be your moisturizer—it may be your skin. As skin cells dry out and die, they form a layer over healthy skin that’s difficult to penetrate. That’s why regular exfoliation is extra important during the drier months. If your moisturizer doesn’t seem to be pulling its weight, pump up your exfoliating regimen with a gentle total body scrub like Pür Polish. And, as always, be sure to moisturize immediately after.

Mind Your Moisturizer
You might’ve gotten away with a thin, water-based moisturizer in the summer months. But as the humidity goes into hibernation, so should weak moisturizers. Instead of watery lotions that evaporate in dry weather, look for a rich, emollient cream like Mineral Moisture Complex that will lock moisture in and keep the elements from sucking you dry. Rich in sunflower seed oil, this luscious night cream offers deep hydration without pore-clogging petroleum or synthetic oils.

Ban Hot Showers and Baths
While there’s nothing better than soaking in a hot bath after braving the cold, this common indulgence could be taking a toll on your skin. Hot showers and baths can actually break down the skin’s lipid barrier—a fatty layer that traps moisture inside the skin—leaving it dehydrated.  Instead, use warm water and be sure to moisturize afterward. For chapped or cracked skin, adding baking soda or oatmeal to your bath can spell instant relief (not to mention relaxation).
