Start Now! kit a Family Friendly Favorite

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Pür fans are the best! Last week, blogger Heather at Family Friendly Frugality tried our NEW 5-Piece Start Now! Essentials Collection with amazing results. Read her story below:

Start Now Kit

I’ve had bad skin since I was in my early pre-teens. There were times that I stayed home from school because my acne was so painful.

Now that I’m approaching 30, my skin is somewhat better, but plenty of scars still remain. I also still breakout quite often. It’s in different areas now and it’s not quite as painful, but as a 29-year-old woman, it’s still very frustrating.

Typically, my makeup of choice is a thick liquid foundation. Of course there’s plenty of concealer and a good caking of pressed powder on top as well.

I did try a brief stint with mineral make up a few years back, but during my pregnancy with my daughter my skin changed and it just didn’t seem to be compatible with my complexion any longer.

Needless to say, I was a bit hesitant when I received my Pür Minerals 5-Piece NEW Start Now Kit! in the mail. I just wasn’t sure it would work for me.

Not only that, I am a mom, so my time to get ready is very limited.

The first thing I did was put some of the Neutral Primer on my face. It was very light and not greasy feeling at all. I let it dry and then started to sweep on the 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup in a circular motion. I was so surprised at the coverage! I also loved the Chisel Brush that they included in the package. It was nice and soft on my face.

I used a bit of the Mineral Glow as blush and swept the Impact+ Mascara on my eyelids. So pretty!

I love the coverage of this makeup. You wouldn’t think a powder could feel this light, but cover so well. I have tried other mineral makeup, and I honestly think Pür Mineral’s is top notch above the rest!

Hot Rocks a Hit on FitnessMagazine.com

HotRocks_NaturalHealthThree-dimensional beauty is in, and few powdery pebbles bring the heat like Pür’s luminous Hot Rocks. In a recent blog article featured on FitnessMagazine.com, the award-winning multi-pigmented makeup rocks were praised for their brilliant color and total versatility. Here’s the scoop, straight from the fitness guru’s Beauty on the Go blog:

“Not only do these faintly shimmery bronzer, blush, and highlighting powders give cheeks a gorgeous glow when applied with a brush swirled over the multi-tonal pigments, but they can also multitask. We’ve experimented with using individual beads as eye shadow, lip color (topped with gloss or balm), and luminizer on the inner corners of eyes, under the brows, and on the cupid’s bow. They’re just plain fun to use, like makeup should be!”

Pür Minerals' JuE Wong Featured in Little PINK Book

This month, Astral Brands (Pür’s parent company) CEO JuE Wong, shared with Little PINK Book how she came to champion women’s heart health. PINK, America’s no. 1 online resource for working women, praised Wong’s perserverance in the face of tragedy as an example for how women can overcome adversity in their personal lives and careers. Read the full story below or on littlepinkbook.com.

JuE Wong believes in destiny. After losing her husband to a fatal heart attack just three weeks after they relocated from New York to Georgia, the CEO of Astral Brands used the devastating experience to help others.

Blindsided by a tragedy no one saw coming, Wong credits positive thinking with helping her bounce back, personally and professionally.

“By training teams to look at situations as opportunities rather than problems, it’s helped us succeed,” Wong tells PINK. After her husband’s death, she began volunteering with the American Heart Association, helping them raise $100,000 more dollars than they had the previous year. She now sits on their board of directors.

"Irrational optimism" is a mindset that could benefit all businesswomen. “We think we’re in control – then we get fired or a company goes under,” Wong says. “We can’t control that, but we can control the opportunities we find through networking and improving our skill sets.”

Switching careers, focusing on your health or taking time to self-educate are a few ways women create their own destiny. Plus, being open to gratitude, staying in the present and seeking professional help if necessary provide the chance to trump tragedy with positivity.

“When tragic things in life happen,” says Wong, “you can’t let that pull you down.”

The Simple Joys of Leisure Diving

They say necessity is the mother of invention. For a pair of New Yorkers “dedicated to chilling out poolside” (as their website says), the need to keep cool—in more ways than one—has sparked a national craze: leisure diving.

For those who missed the planking train—the internet fad that stacked friends like human Lincoln Logs—leisure diving is new to the scene. Created just earlier this month by Alex Scott and John Lewis, summer’s newest meme involves leaping into a pool and striking a laidback pose—often fully clothed—moments before hitting the water. Loungewear and leisurely props, like a martini glass or croquet mallet, all add to the goofy sense of extreme relaxation.

In response to a flood of snapshots from across the country, the pair announced that they would soon start posting the most creative—and chill—submissions to their site. (Their Facebook page already has close to 10,000 fans.)

For a fad that’s bound to end with summer, at least for the moment it seems like a lot of fun.

Mineral Goodness from Pür Minerals

We love when other Pür fans share the love. Recently, Lisa at Beauty Info Zone shared her thoughts on our award-winning 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup and NEW All Over Glow face and body bronzer. Here’s what she had to say:

Blush_med_878147000475 “Pür Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Foundation with SPF 15 has been a favorite of mine for years. It’s billed as the ‘one minute mineral makeup miracle’, which is completely true.  This is the easiest foundation to apply—just use a flat top chisel brush and sweep it on. Foundation is done in less than a minute, and it looks fabulous. Plus, it provides SPF coverage—another bonus since I am not always vigilant about wearing sunscreen.

What I like about this foundation is it applies so quickly, gives great buildable coverage and doesn’t irritate my skin even when it’s at its most sensitive. While it’s pressed powder, it has a slightly moist texture, so it doesn’t give me the dry look I get from a lot of mineral foundations, which instantly ages me about ten years. The foundation has shea butter and vitamin E in it, so it’s great for dry and oily skin alike.

AllOverGlow Another Pür Minerals product I am loving now is the All Over Glow Face and Body Bronzer. This is HUGE, and it’s just beautiful. It’s a very natural looking bronzer with golden tones [and] has a very subtle golden shimmer. I was a little scared at first thinking it would be too dark, but it goes on softly without the dreaded ‘dirty’ bronzer look.

The Pur Minerals foundation and bronzer are two of my staples in my summer makeup kit. What are some of your summer staples?”  – Lisa

Covered in Mud at Beauty Info Zone

Most people don’t think of mudslinging in positive terms—unless you’re a Mineral Mudd fan, of course. This month, makeup artist and Beauty Info Zone blogger Lisa gets her hands dirty putting our rave-reviewed facial mask to test. Here’s her verdict:

“I have a love-hate relationship with mud masks.

On one hand, a mud mask makes me really feel like I am pampering myself. I can walk around with quite obvious proof that I am taking time out for myself.

The hate part is that mud masks can be very drying and irritating. It’s definitely trial and error to find one that truly works, that unclogs blocked pores, exfoliates dull skin, and leaves one looking refreshed and glowy.

MineralMud_New_CAP_2 A mask that I absolutely adore is the Mineral Mudd Masque ($26) by Pür Minerals.

I have used this regularly for several months now and it’s terrific. It’s a very thick, cream brown mask that spreads easily without much mess and dries quickly. Love the hygienic packaging, it’s a squeeze tube so the product stays fresh for a long time. I use this once a week, and it keeps my skin looking bright. What I love about it is that it doesn’t dry my face out, no matter how long I leave it on.

If you have very oily, blackhead prone skin you can use this as a spot mask, and it’s gentle enough to use more often than once a week. It does a great job of regulating the skin. I actually put this on newly erupting blemishes and then sleep with it on, and the next morning the problem is gone with no ill effects.

Does it work?  I certainly find it does, I love it.  I think this is one of the best mud masks on the market.”

Pür Minerals and The Mommy Factor

We love our fans—especially when they share the love. This month on the parenting lifestyle blog, The Mommy Factor, blogger and Pür fan Nikki “gets back into makeup” with the Exotic Oasis Spring 2011 Collection. Here’s her story:

“This year I'm learning how to use makeup again. Yeah. When I learned that the Pür Minerals Spring 2011 collection was inspired by the allure of the tropics and featured exotic colors, I had to review them. Spring is the perfect time to be use color in makeup.

‘These vibrant shades for spring breathe life into any beauty routine,’ says Pür Minerals resident makeup artist Jackie Gomez. ‘From island-inspired hues to exotic shades, the new Pür palettes are a great way to transition from winter to spring.’

Purfall03 Last year during a Pür Minerals Fall 2010 Collection event, I met celebrity makeup artist, Jackie Gomez (seen right), who introduced me to the line. During the event, Jackie explained how Pür Minerals is free of talc, chemical dyes, petroleum-based oils and fillers. This makes this line of makeup great for all skin types. Jackie also showed me how to start introducing makeup to my mommy lifestyle. LOL. I confess since becoming a mom, wearing makeup hasn't been much of an option.

But this year makeup IS an option and on some days a must! So if you’re a mom like me looking to get back into wearing makeup, let me share with you what the Pür Minerals Spring 2011 collection has to offer… Read More

Catch the Pür Summer Buzz

As we gear up for sun-soaked months ahead, we’re turning up the heat with some of the hottest products around. And from coast to coast, our fans are taking notice. Here’s a glimpse at what Pür faves have got beauty junkies nationwide raving.

LipGloss&Swatch Painted Ladies
Beauty reviewer and self-professed “lip gloss fiend” Sheila praised our Pout Plumping Lip Gloss in Spiced Barite, saying, “The texture of the gloss is not what you would traditionally expect — it’s not sticky or tacky feeling at all! I would describe the feel as a liquid lipstick, and was impressed by how it wore throughout the day. Barely budged through drinking, snacking and doing lots of talking! The color, Spiced Barite, is a rosey pink with a silver undertone, and just gorgeous. Based on the color alone, it has earned a place in my regular gloss rotation.”

ALLOY.com
4-in-1-and-Allure-Seal The beauty staff at ALLOY can’t get enough of our 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup and Colour Correcting Primers. In an article titled “Mineral Foundation Breakdown,” they praised our award-winning duo, saying, “There are different primers to meet your needs (anti-redness, anti-blotchiness, etc.) and the powder foundation adds the flawless touch. This is excellent for girls who want or need full coverage. It's an excellent concealer and looks really great on camera.”

HotRocks Associated Content
Beauty blogger Emily LOVES our Hot Rocks and Mineral Shea Butter Lipsticks—enough to call them out in her article, “Best Beauty Products of 2010.” Commenting on the Hot Rocks, she said, “This is the coolest blush you have ever used! It literally looks like rocks, and you just swirl your brush in there and apply.” She also revealed that while she normally doesn't wear lipstick, when she does, it's Mineral Shea Butter Lipstick all the way. “It goes on so smooth and feels great on your lips. I like the Rose Garnet and Sheer Citrine.”
